Research Projects:

  • 4/1996 – 4/1998 – “Acid Peptic Disorder Project” sponsored by Astra Merck Pharmaceutical in coordination with Cedars Sinai consultation and Shands Hospital consultation. I served as GI consultant to the Orlando HealthCare Group – PruCare HMO for set-up and implementation of this project. This Involved biweekly meetings and intermittent executive committee meetings. Meetings.

  • 8/1996 – “Helicobacter and Peptic Ulcer Disease Investigation”. These are clinical investigations sponsored by Proctor & Gamble and Boyer Medical Group. The purpose is to evaluate treatment efficacy of the new Helindac therapy sponsored by Proctor & Gamble in treatment of Helicobacter pylori infestation in peptic ulcer disease.

  • 2/1997 – “A Double Blind Positive Controlled Randomized parallel Study to Evaluate the Effects of Lansoprazole Compared with Ranitidine on NSAID – Induced Gastric Ulcers in Patients Continuing to Take NSAIDs”, clinical trial sponsored by TAP Holdings, Inc. Protocol no. M95-352.

  • 1/1998 – 4/1998 – “Chronic Dyspepsia Study”. TAP Holding Pharmaceutical Company. Endoscopic evaluation of patients with a greater than three month history of dyspepsia for a trial of a new experimental promotility agent.

  • 4/1999 – 10/1999 – “TAP M98-890 GERD II Study”. TAP Holding Pharmaceutical Company. Compare in a randomized and blinded fashion the use of Prevacid versus Prilosec in patients with Grade II exophagitis or more severe esophagitis. Evaluation and endoscopy were performed on all patients.

  • 5/1999 – 12/1999 – “Osteoarthritis Study 1004-031-050”. Parke-Davis Pharmaceutical Company. This is a study for patients who have severe osteoarthritis of the knee to try a new nonsteroidal medication if they do not have gastric or duodenal ulceration or severe erosive disease. We performed the endoscopic evaluation of these patients. This is done in conjunction with the research nurses at PruCare under Linda Zincovich and Nilda Freire-Jessmore.

  • 6/2004 – "Naturalistic Study of Asacol Dosing Patterns and Outcomes in the Treatment of Ulcerative Colitis." This is done with the Cetus Group as part of a luti-site study on the treatment of ulcerative colitis in acute flare with Asacol in various dosing and outcomes.
